The OLLI Board of Advisors' mission is to ensure the effectiveness and continuity of OLLI-无码专区 by guiding decision making, enabling program excellence, responding to the membership, and promoting member participation. Working in collaboration with the OLLI staff, the board is future-oriented, continually striving to improve while addressing present challenges and opportunities.

Officers

Pam Tyler

Pam Tyler, Chair, was born in Ankara, Turkey; raised in Morocco and Okinawa; and is an FSU alumnus (in French) who later earned a graduate degree from Yale Divinity School and a Law Degree from the University of Florida.  Her career included seven years as a full-time astrologer in London and eight as Felony Division Chief of the MiamiDade County State Attorney鈥檚 Office.  Pam is an ordained priest who officiated in parishes in Laguna Hills (CA) and Taos (NM), directed a refugee resettlement program as Vice Chancellor of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, and owned and managed a lodge and retreat center in Taos.  In retirement, Pam returned to her family鈥檚 roots in Dade City and has undertaken a broad-based effort to generate awareness of OLLI and growth in membership in that fast-growing area and throughout Tampa Bay.

 

Stephanie Hoffman

Stephanie Hoffman, Board Secretary, holds a PhD in developmental psychology and graduated from Vassar College and Pennsylvania State University.  She worked for the Veterans Administration as Director of Interprofessional Team Training for 15 years and as Designated Learning Officer for 15 years, and she is currently a faculty member of St. Leo鈥檚 University and of the University of Arizona. Dr. Hoffman served on the board of Tampa鈥檚 Life Enrichment Center for the Arts, as president of the local Vassar Club, and as a Guardian Ad Litem.  She was part of the 无码专区 Lifelong Learning Center before it became an OLLI.  She has taken classes in art history and photography software, and her favorite activity is the Food Glorious Food Special Interest Group.  Stephanie reads widely and belongs to several book clubs. She is a big picture strategist but she also can focus on details, helped by her background as a green belt in Lean Six Sigma which assists in streamlining and enhancing processes.

 

Linda Feeney

Linda Feeney, Instructor Support Leader, from Boston, moved to Tampa upon retiring from a 17-year career at the Ford Foundation, a major philanthropy with headquarters in New York and field offices worldwide. At the foundation she experienced and learned collegiality, a willingness to understand and value experiences, and consensus, the active solicitation of input and the flexibility to adapt to it.  When Linda first encountered OLLI, she was impressed with the quality and depth of the classes.She is a frequent moderator in Literature courses.  She believes that OLLI is a wonderful example of how a community of members can develop and sustain an organization serving a meaningful purpose.

 

Committee Chairs

 

Kevin Chittim

 

Kevin Chittim, Development Committee Chair, is a retired tech CEO who has served on OLLI鈥檚 Finance, Marketing, Program Planning, and Executive Committees. Kevin has taken more than 350 OLLI classes at OLLI-无码专区 and other OLLI institutions and taught scores of classes, principally under the 鈥淕reat Books鈥 banner.  Many OLLI members may not realize that more than 20% of OLLI鈥檚 operating expenses are not covered by membership and tuition fees and must be met by philanthropic donations and other sources of revenue; it鈥檚 Kevin鈥檚 goal to expand the scope and the sophistication of the fund-raising effort.  Kevin鈥檚 roots are in New England, but the Dartmouth grad held management positions in California, New York, and Florida before retiring to Pinellas County.  His specialties are in finance, marketing, and general management, with experience in volunteer fundraising and board experience in both religious and community organizations. He was CEO of three companies, served on a broad variety of boards including school boards and the Great Books of Tampa board, and was chair of the Florida Business Incubator.

 

Kathryn Allyson

Kathryn Allyson, Member Engagement Chair, who goes by K., is retired from work as a Certified Public Accountant. Her minor vocations included work in the travel industry and vocal music.  K. has done volunteer work with AARP and various local groups.  Her leadership experiences included acting as president of a 300-member chapter of the American Association of University Women and as the chair of a county chapter of CPAs.  She has always been active in book clubs and has traveled extensively.  K. moved to Florida to enjoy being a grandmother of four children in Crystal River and has been living in Land O鈥 Lakes since 2020. She is an OLLI-无码专区 member, taking classes in technology, science, politics and literature, and is a member of the Operatunity SIG, the Travel Opportunities Committee and the Membership Committee.  As she says it 鈥 鈥淎lways curious - so much fun stuff, so little time!鈥 

 

Karen Wright

Karen Wright, Chair, Travel Committee, is a transplanted Pennsylvanian who escaped the Lehigh Valley snowfalls to attend the University of West Florida in Pensacola, and never moved back North after settling in Tampa.  Karen鈥檚 degree in Computer Science led to a 40-year career in Marketing, Customer Service, and Project Management with IBM and AT&T, during which time she made the most of Florida鈥檚 outdoor recreational opportunities, including more than 700 scuba diving adventures in the Atlantic and Caribbean.  An avid traveler and photographer, she has enjoyed OLLI classes in both. She is also involved with the Florida Native Plant Society, serving as Editor of the bimonthly newsletter for the Nature Coast Chapter.  As a member of the Travel Committee, she has developed several of the most successful group trips in OLLI鈥檚 travel history.  

 

Nancy Baily-Williamson

Nancy Baily-Williamson, Finance Committee Chair, joined OLLI in 2021 after retiring from a lengthy career in the property & casualty insurance business, mostly with a large multi-national corporation where she developed expertise in Operations and Financial Management.  In 2013, however, Nancy decided to work with a team to help create a smaller, more focused, and nimble insurance carrier, a project which proved successful and eventually expanded into six states in the Southeast.  Since joining OLLI, Nancy has taken a variety of Liberal Arts classes 鈥 history, music, entertainment, mystery, and intrigue. In May of 2023, Nancy became the Shared Interest Group Liaison and Board of Advisors member, where her personal goals include raising the level of member engagement in OLLI by broadening the awareness of the many opportunities OLLI offers to Tampa Bay area seniors.

 

At-Large Members and Shared Interest Group (SIG) Liaison

Mike Hays

Mike Hayes, Shared Interest Group Liaison, joined OLLI in 2018. He holds an MBA from  Lehigh University and retired after 40 years in quality assurance in the food industry. A keen student of popular cultural history, especially the music of the 1950s and 1960s, he is dedicated to researching the pop culture icons many of us have grown up with. In high school, he met an exchange student from Peru who became his wife. An amateur photographer, he has visited Peru and his extended family there many times. Mike is one of the hosts of OLLI's Hablemos SIG. He is a Liberal Arts instructor for OLLI, has served on the Travel Opportunities Committee and he is an OLLI event photographer. 

 

Veronica Maxwell


Veronica Maxwell, OLLI Director (ex officio)
- Veronica Maxwell came to OLLI-无码专区 from Hillsborough County Aging Services, where she spent seven years working with the county鈥檚 senior centers as senior program coordinator for nutrition and wellness.   鈥淚 am excited to be working with the committed OLLI-无码专区 members, volunteers and staff to help guide the organization鈥檚 programs and expansion,鈥 said Maxwell, who also previously served as a teacher in Hillsborough County Public Schools and has been an active volunteer with community organizations that work with older adults.  In addition to her bachelor鈥檚 degree, Maxwell holds a master鈥檚 degree in science education in instructional leadership. She is currently a doctoral student in curriculum and instruction in the 无码专区 College of Education and a recipient of the Dr. Kathryn Hyer Supervisor Award from the School of Aging Studies.
