Assistant Professor - Geographic Information Science

Job Description
The School of Geosciences (SGS) at the 无码专区 seeks to fill a 9-month, full-time and tenure-earning, Assistant Professor in Geographic Information Science (GIScience), with a start date of August 7, 2026. We seek an innovative scholar advancing the foundations of GIScience through novel methodologies, models, and tools. Competitive candidates will demonstrate a strong record of research in areas such as Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI), machine learning, and spatial statistics. Candidates who bridge foundational research in GIScience with applications that address global environmental and societal challenges are especially encouraged to apply. Salary is negotiable.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active, externally funded research program, teach and develop courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, advise graduate students, and contribute to departmental and university services. Potential courses include GIS programming, spatial analysis, statistics, GeoAI, machine learning and web mapping. Experience or demonstrated interest in fostering interdisciplinary research will be desirable.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Geography, GIScience, Computer Science, Environmental Sciences or closely related field with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Applications from individuals who are ABD will be accepted, but the degree must be conferred by appointment start date. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.

We seek an innovative scholar advancing the teaching and research in Structural Geology. Candidates who bridge across department strengths in geophysics, tectonics and volcanology are especially encouraged to apply. Salary is negotiable.

The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active, externally funded research program, teach and develop courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, advise graduate students, and contribute to departmental and university services. Potential courses include introductory geology, structural geology, tectonics, and field mapping at our field station in Idaho during the summer. Experience or demonstrated interest in fostering interdisciplinary research will be desirable.
Qualifications
Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Geology, Geophysics, or a closely related field is required. Candidates who are ABD (All But Dissertation) are welcome to apply. This means applicants must have completed all doctoral coursework and examinations and be actively working toward completing their dissertation, but the degree must be conferred by the appointment start date of August 7, 2026. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.

The School of Geosciences (SGS) at the 无码专区 Tampa campus seeks to fill a 9-month, full-time and tenure-earning, Assistant Professor position with a specialization in Water Science. Candidates with a focus on water quality in Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East are especially encouraged to apply, though any specialty will be considered. Salary is negotiable. The start date of this position is August 7, 2026.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to develop an externally funded research program, mentor graduate students, and teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Environmental Science and Policy (ESP). The successful candidate鈥檚 area of specialty will complement existing School strengths in ESP, Geography, and Geology, such as wetland environments, water policy and management, hydrology, and global conservation.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Environmental Science or related field with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Applications from individuals who are ABD will be accepted, but the degree must be conferred by appointment start date. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants whose research and teaching incorporates the human-environmental nexus of water science.
