Dr. Uday Murthy, a Muma College of Business professor, shared his inspirations for pursuing his current career. He came to the U.S. in 1983 to attend Drexel University for his Masters. 鈥淒rexel was unique in that they required students to purchase an Apple Lisa鈥� Apple鈥檚 predecessor of the Macintosh鈥攆or my teaching assistantship,鈥� Murthy explains. 鈥淚t was a crash course.鈥� This requirement eventually led to a doctorate degree and a love for how Accounting and Information Systems intersect. 鈥�
Goswami shared a typical day as a university professor. 鈥淎 typical day at the university is meeting with students and teaching,鈥� Goswami says. 鈥淚 meet with graduate students in groups or individually, meet with undergraduate students during office hours, as well as going to the lab to make sure research work is available.鈥濃€€�
An alumna who is a Senior Consultant at Deloitte, shared the best advice she received early on in her career. 鈥淢ove around, step outside, and don鈥檛 be shy,鈥� she said. 鈥淭alk to people. We鈥檝e all been through this, as Roy said. We鈥檙e happy to help.鈥濃€€�
The students were able to ask questions individually with all the attendees, gaining a wide range of advice from different voices of the industries they are interested in entering, whether that be academia, engineering, medicine, or other fields of interest.鈥€�
